Significance of halo, reversed halo and air crescent signs in lymphomatoid granulomatosis and pulmonary fungal infections.

چکیده
We read with interest the article by Lota et al. The authors report a case of lymphomatoid granulomatosis (LG) with an atypical CT finding of crescent sign for LG. Typically, LG patients with lung involvement can present with pulmonary infiltration and may later develop a reversed halo sign, a focal round area of ground-glass attenuation and surrounding airspace consolidation of crescent shape. Although the reversed halo sign is relatively specific to a diagnosis of cryptogenic organising pneumonia, there have been reported cases of a reversed halo sign in patients with LG, sarcoidosis, pulmonary paracoccidioidomycosis and other

The halo sign is a CT finding of ground-glass opacity surrounding a pulmonary nodule or mass. The reversed halo sign is a focal rounded area of ground-glass opacity surrounded by a crescent or complete ring of consolidation. In severely immunocompromised patients, these signs are highly suggestive of early infection by an angioinvasive fungus. The halo sign and reversed halo sign are most commo...
متن کاملThe Reversed Halo Sign: Another Atypical Manifestation of Sarcoidosis
We read with great interest the well-written and informative pictorial essay by Park et al. (1), which reviews the thoracic manifestations of sarcoidosis, classifying them as typical and atypical. They indicate that the less frequent and unusual manifestations may be observed in 25% to 30% of cases, emphasizing the difficulty to differentiate sarcoidosis from other diseases, and the importance ...
متن کاملLymphomatoid Granulomatosis: CT and FDG-PET Findings
OBJECTIVE Lymphomatoid granulomatosis (LG) is a rare, aggressive extranodal Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-positive B-cell lymphoproliferative disease. The purpose of our study was to analyze the CT and fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) findings of pulmonary LG. MATERIALS AND METHODS Between 2000 and 2009, four patients with pathologically proven pulmonary LG and chest CT we...
